We now have a dark theme. A sight for sore eyes.
Books and newspapers have been printed in the exact same way for centuries: black text symbols on white backgrounds. White backgrounds are the norm in software design today. This is due to a variety of reasons, with text readability and contrast being the most obvious. This applies mainly to plain text and the act of reading it.
Our eyes prefer dark themes when it comes to overall productivity. This applies to situations where the eyes only glance at the content and not every pixel. Software can also benefit from a dark-colored interface. It brings out their strengths more than a white-colored interface.
Developers often code in color-coded syntax, even on a black screen. It is easier to see the code in color on a black screen, and it is also easier to focus.
Do you ever wake up in middle of the night to check your phone? Or do you just spend all night staring at your phone? We do, too. Many people find it easier to fall asleep by browsing Reddit or Imgur. This is your lucky day if you prefer to look at deadlines, budgets, and tasks in ActiveCollab during the night. This is your lucky night. This is the Purkinje effect, and we were aware of it when choosing colors for the Neon theme. It was our goal to use colors that could be used in such conditions. Bright-lit devices emit blue light that suppresses the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep. It also increases the time it takes for you to fall asleep. It feels good! It doesn’t hurt to have eyes. But, what I’m most proud of is our collection of icons. It was a challenge to design them in a way that would work on both dark and light themes. They also needed to be able to live and breathe within our new look and feel. We ended up with one set of icons, which saved us time and code. The icons don’t have any dynamic changes depending on the theme. This makes it easy for people to use the high-quality chair. Others may prefer a darker theme. We’re not here for judging. We just don’t like that staring-directly-into-the-sun feeling during night time.Turn the Lights off
